This 4th of July Fruit Platter is not only incredibly easy to assemble but also transforms into a stunning edible American flag, making it the perfect centerpiece for your festive spread. It’s a healthy, refreshing, and crowd-pleasing treat that will have everyone cheering.
Ingredients
- 1 lb (about 3 cups) fresh strawberries
- 1 pint (about 2 cups) fresh blueberries
- 3-4 ripe bananas
- Large rectangular serving platter (approx. 9×13 inches or similar)
Instructions
- Gently wash and thoroughly dry all strawberries and blueberries. Hull the strawberries and slice them lengthwise into approximately 1/4-inch thick pieces.
- Peel the bananas and slice them into similar 1/4-inch thick rounds. To prevent browning if making ahead, you can lightly toss banana slices in a tiny bit of lemon juice.
- Position your rectangular platter on a flat surface. In the top left corner of the platter, create a solid square (or rectangle) using the fresh blueberries. This represents the blue field with stars.
- Starting immediately to the right of the blueberry field, arrange a long horizontal stripe of sliced strawberries across the remaining width of the platter.
- Below the strawberry stripe, arrange a horizontal stripe of sliced bananas.
- Continue alternating stripes of strawberries and bananas across the remainder of the platter, working your way down, until you have formed a visually appealing American flag pattern. Aim for roughly 7-13 stripes, depending on your platter size, to complete the flag.
- Serve immediately or chill lightly until ready to display. Enjoy your beautiful and delicious patriotic creation!
