Classic Bruschetta Recipe- Easy Italian Appetizer

  • 1 baguette or rustic loaf, sliced into 1/2-inch thick pieces
  • 4-5 ripe Roma tomatoes, diced
  • 1/4 cup fresh basil leaves, finely chopped
  • 2-3 cloves garlic, minced (plus 1 whole clove for rubbing)
  • 1/4 cup extra virgin olive oil, plus more for brushing bread
  • 1 tablespoon balsamic glaze (optional, for drizzling)
  • 1/2 teaspoon sea salt, or to taste
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper, or to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Arrange bread slices on a baking sheet. Lightly brush both sides of each slice with olive oil.
  2. Toast the bread in the preheated oven for 5-8 minutes, or until golden brown and crispy. Once toasted, immediately rub one side of each warm slice with the whole garlic clove. Set aside.
  3. In a medium bowl, combine the diced tomatoes, chopped fresh basil, minced garlic, 1/4 cup extra virgin olive oil, sea salt, and black pepper. Stir gently to combine all ingredients.
